Resveratrol has been believed to be the molecular reason behind the French Paradox (good health of wine consuming Frenches despite a high amount of saturated fat in their diet). It has been shown to act at various physiological levels to provide health benefits. It absorbs UV light and undergoes the process of isomerization; the process can protect against UV induced damage in the cells. It is a potent antioxidant and helps in curbing the oxidative free radicals, helps to maintain the normal blood lipid profile, and thus supports cardiovascular health.
